We are delighted to share the release of Episode 2 of our podcast, Mosaïc Logha. In this new episode, we continue exploring the richness of languages and the personal journeys behind learning Arabic. This time, we do so through the voice of an inspiring guest.

In Episode 2, we welcome Maryam Bigdeli, Head of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Morocco. Her story offers a unique perspective on multilingualism, identity, and the importance of learning the local language of the place where one lives and works. With a background shaped by multiple languages, Maryam reflects on how language becomes both a professional tool and a deeply personal bridge to people and cultures.

Born into a Farsi-speaking environment, Maryam shares how she transitioned at a young age to French, and later to English. Over time, these linguistic shifts shaped her worldview and influenced her professional path. However, her journey did not stop there. After settling in Morocco, she began learning Arabic, with a particular focus on Moroccan Darija.
For Maryam, learning the local dialect was not optional. Instead, it was essential. It allowed her to build trust, understand context, and engage more meaningfully with the society around her. Throughout the episode, she explains how Darija helped her move beyond formal interactions and connect on a more human level.

Moreover, Maryam highlights how learning Arabic supports daily communication with colleagues, partners, and local communities. She reflects on how speaking the local language fosters humility, empathy, and a stronger sense of belonging. As a result, language becomes more than a skill—it becomes a way of being present.

Beyond her personal experience, this episode invites listeners to rethink language learning altogether. Rather than an academic exercise, it becomes a commitment to place, people, and connection. For anyone learning Arabic, Maryam’s journey offers reassurance and motivation. Progress, she reminds us, comes through curiosity, consistency, and the courage to make mistakes.
